College football season ended a few days ago when college basketball season began, but here’s a few things I didn’t get to mention earlier this week from the world of college football, the NFL, and the NBA.

Darren McFadden = the man. Very impressive 300+ yards put him back in the Heisman race. It [...]

College football kicked off this week and started with a bang. It’s hard to imagine a better opening weekend. Arkansas won - which was certainly nice, and Michigan and Notre Dame were embarrassed at home. It was nice to see Tennessee lose, and would’ve been a near perfect weekend had K-State held [...]

So, maybe Florida’s decision on who will replace Billy Donovan will be easier than they thought. Perhaps they’ll be able to replace him with.. himself!
I guess Donovan has disappointed Kentucky fans twice in two months now.
My personal thought is that, while this whole thing is embarrassing to all parties involved and Donovan in particular, [...]

Wow. That was pretty amazing. I watched game 5 between Cleveland and Detroit last night in the NBA playoffs, and for all those who were questioning if LeBron James could carry his team, I think there’s no longer any doubt. ESPN was calling it the “signature game of his young career.” In a [...]

For the Duke haters, who’ve been out in full force for the past week, with all of their irrationality in full bloom. I didn’t notice this until this morning when I saw a replay, but Dwyane Wade’s injury a few weeks ago was at the hands of none other than former Duke player Shane [...]

He was an oustanding defensive player in the NBA [...]

Last night I came across this article - Arenas says he’d score ‘84 or 85′ against Duke. Six months or so later, Gilbert Areanas still can’t get over being cut from the USA Basketball team. Apparently, he blames it on Coach Mike Krzyzewski.
All I know about Arenas these days is that he’s apparently [...]

Just a few things I’ve seen in the last couple of days but haven’t gotten around to posting yet:
Chris Gonzalez is reading through the Koran and recording his thoughts on a new blog, Blogging The Koran. As one who has never read the Koran (and probably never will), I’ll be interested to see his [...]

When my son was born in 2004, I wanted to name him Larry Joe*. My wife objected.
I was a huge Celtics fan in the 80’s, and Larry Joe Bird is, by far, my favorite basketball player of all time. In fact - Michael notwithstanding - I still view Larry and Magic as the [...]
