I continue to see friends on Facebook complaining via their status about “new Facebook.” It seems that many of my friends don’t care for it. Words like “hate” or “detest” are often used to describe it.
Apparently, there are those who feel strongly on both sides, as evidenced in these “Facebook attack ads”, which I thought were humorous.
Since Facebook is now blocked at my workplace, I don’t log on as much as I used to. I could update my status on occasion during the day or spend some of my lunch hour there, but now most of my updates come from my Google shared items feed. So despite spending a bit less time on Facebook than I might otherwise, I would say I’m still on the fence as well. Is new Facebook truly change we can believe in? Are these changes really going to improve the lives of Facebook users everywhere? Does old Facebook really put social networking first? And shouldn’t we be at least a little concerned about the age of old Facebook?
In the end, I like some things about the old style better, but all things considered, I would still prefer the new. I believe it’s what’s right for social networking. It’s what’s right for America.
