It’s déjà vu all over again.

LSU 38, OSU 24.

I’ve been hearing it for a month now… OSU was going to be more prepared… deserved to be in the game… redemption…. nation’s best defense… motivational dvd… blah blah blah.

Just like last year, OSU got off to a very good start only to be outplayed the rest of the night by the team that was clearly better. The Buckeyes scored on the first drive of the game, and followed it up with a field goal to take a 10-0 lead. Then, they essentially collapsed under the pressure of playing a real football team, being embarrassed for the second straight year by an SEC opponent in the championship game. They hadn’t played anyone all season long (especially compared to LSU’s tough schedule), and so tonight’s result isn’t exactly surprising. It could have been any one of several SEC teams playing and the result would’ve been the same.

It’s pretty simple: you give up 31 straight points, at any point during the game, and you lose. (Best defense? Ha!)

So, could we please leave the Big 10 out of this game next year? This could have been a much better game if USC was on the other side of the ball from LSU. (Or if Georgia and West Virginia had a shot at it, too, but I won’t go into my playoff rant again.)

Congratulations to LSU, who became the first team to win two BCS championships while the SEC remains undefeated (4-0) in BCS title games.

And the Big Ten still sucks.
