I received a new “Harding Alumni Digest” email a few minutes ago. There’s a section where they are relaying information about various building projects on campus. In discussing some land along Race Street that is being cleared by the university, I found the following statement:
Buildings that have been removed recently include the bus station, two buildings that were the Race Street Apartments, a house that had served as a real estate office, a pink brick building that was most recently the local Democratic party headquarters, a gun shop with a garage and a mechanic’s shop that was once a filling station.
The school that has recently invited Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity to speak, tearing down a Democratic party headquarters… yeah, that seems about right.
Disclaimer: I’m aware that the post title isn’t really accurate. It’s like a Fox News headline, not really describing the truth or reality. Just a little joke on my part.

I love the post. I have been talking to some friends about trying to get someone other than a “right wing political head” to speak this next semester, yet to have much luck. Then again, what can I expect when they are tearing down the democrat headquarters. But of course, Harding is fair and balanced, just like their favorite news channel.

Yeah, it just struck me as funny that they’d cleared off land where a Dem HQ had been. Good look getting a speaker that doesn’t toe the line.

Not to defend HU, because it is slanted to the right, but I think they were just tearing down area for land. I am betting all 12 democrats that live in Searcy can find somewhere else to go :)

Right, Kenny. I was just making a joke. I will be anxious to see what that stretch of Race Street looks like when they’re done. I swear, every time I go up to Searcy (a few times a year) it seems like HU has expanded a little more. I think eventually they’ll own all of White County.

HU is slowly taking over much more of Searcy. I have only been away 4 years and they look alot different.
