A co-worker sent me this yesterday: World’s Smallest Political Quiz. Only 10 questions will tell you where you stand on the political spectrum. I’m a little skeptical about how accurate it is, but my results are probably close enough to where I stand today, at least. In 6 months, who knows. Here’s the graphic I got:

I took a different quiz last year (and posted about it here), which had more questions. I figure if I took it again today, the results would be slightly different, although it’s probably still close. You can take that quiz here: What’s Your Political Philosophy?.

Delaware Senator Joe Biden just recently announced that he’s also running for president, which, I believe, brings the total up to about 128 people now throwing their hat in the ring. Biden, like most politicians, said something stupid right away. The article is here, but here’s his quote, speaking about Barack Obama:

You got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.

Biden immediately apologized for the comment, saying he regretted that some may have taken offense at it. Biden later stated that “I have no doubt Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the rest know exactly what I meant.” Maybe I’m misreading it, but it sounds to me that Biden is saying that past black candidates - such as Jackson and Sharpton - do not possess all of those qualities he’s attributed to the Illinois senator, considering he said Obama is “the first.” Either they’re not mainstream, they’re not bright, they’re not clean, or they’re not nice-looking. Is that really what you wanted to say, Joe?

However, Jackson wasn’t terribly insulted by Biden’s comments. He said, “Knowing Joe Biden the way I do, I’m sure he didn’t mean it as off-color.” Of course, if Biden was a Republican, my guess is that both Jackson and Sharpton would have been far more offended, and we would have heard much more from them about the comments. You’ve gotta love politics in America.

Duke starts the beginning of what will be a tough road the rest of the way tonight. They’ve won 5 in a row, but some of those were over weaker teams in the conference. They travel to Virginia, which has pulled off the upset over Duke at home several times in this decade already. Despite Duke being ranked (and Virginia not), a Cavalier win shouldn’t be considered an upset. With Virginia playing well so far this year, and Duke being such a young team that seems to just now be finding it’s legs on offense, it’s pretty likely the Cavalier’s will be well positioned to win tonight. Virginia has beaten Arizona and Gonzaga this year, as well as winning it’s last 4 games, which includes wins over ranked teams Maryland and Clemson.

And the road gets no easier for Duke, with games against Florida State and UNC at home in the coming week. Road games at Maryland, Clemson, BC and UNC in the second half of the conference season are likely to give Duke their highest total in the loss column in over 10 years. But, with a team this young, that’s not surprising, especially with the ACC being as strong and/or balanced as it’s been in a long time. It also doesn’t help that Duke’s success in the last 10 years has only made the rest of the conference’s desire to beat them even stronger, and this is the best shot they’ve had since 1996 to do just that.

I said in my post Sunday that Texas freshman Kevin Durant has been the most impressive freshman I’ve seen this so far this season. Durant continued to impress in last night’s win over Texas Tech with 37 points and 23 rebounds. Nothing against Greg Oden, who is impressive in his own right and I believe will continue to get better, but if I was choosing between the two right now for my team, I’d still have to go with Durant. He has a great game.
