As of today, Cheeburger Cheeburger has come to Little Rock. It’s opening today, and I’m quite excited. It’s not the greatest restaurant in the world, but I’ve always liked it a lot. I first ate at a CC years ago in Memphis, and then when we moved to Alabama, we ate a few times at the one in Huntsville. About a year or so after we arrived in the Huntsville area, they opened another one in Madison, where we lived, and it was just around the corner from my house. It then became a pretty regular place for us to dine. So, after about a year-and-a-half of no Cheeburger, I’m looking forward to checking out the new one here.
I watched the beginning of The Tonight Show this morning while getting ready this morning (haven’t gotten to Letterman yet.) Leno had several championship game jokes.
- It was so bad that Bush is sending in 20,000 additional players to Ohio.
- It was the worst thing to happen to a Heismen Trophy winner since, well, O.J.
- Did you hear what the Ohio State band was playing at halftime? The song from Titanic.
A video clip was included - this was no joke. The band was in fact playing the song. Seems appropriate, though. That was a sinking ship from the first time Florida got the ball. At least the Titanic stayed above water for a couple of hours. OSU was gone in a matter of minutes.
The Arkansas basketball team, after embarrassing Alabama on Saturday, traveled to Florida last night to play the #2 Gators. Despite losing the game, they had another good showing and seem to have really turned things around since the Texas Tech game where they were embarrassed. They nearly won at Texas, the Alabama game, and a good showing last night leaves me with some hope that they’ll do better in SEC play than I would have thought a month ago. They have played Florida as well as just about anyone in their 3 games from last season and last night. They beat Florida in Fayetteville last year and lost by 3 in the SEC tournament. Maybe they’ll get another shot at them in this year’s SEC tournament and pull of another win. If they continue to improve, they’d have a good shot in March.
From Relevant:
A zoo in Australia is putting humans on display to raise awareness about primate conservation. A group of volunteers will spend a month (they get to go home at night) in the ape cage (without the apes) and will be seen on a webcam for viewers and visitors to vote on their favorite. In other words, it’s any reality TV show.
Okay, I’ve wanted an iPod for some time now, but have yet to get one. I’ve just never wanted to spend the money on one. Now, if I’m going to spend the money, I think I want this instead.
Mike Cope posted a link today to a sermon from Rob Bell. It is one of three called “Calling All Peacemakers.” You can find them here (messages 410,411,412) and the titles are:
- Calling All Peacemakers I
- Calling All Peacemakers II : The questions of a kingdom
- Calling All Peacemakers III : A brief history of non-violence
I am just now beginning to listen to them, so I can’t comment on them yet, have always enjoyed hearing and reading Bell in the past.

Someone sent me a picture of Bert’s mug shot today. It reminded me of the “Bert Is Evil” websites from years ago. It always cracks me up. Here’s the wikipedia article, and here’s a site regarding “Bertsama“. (More incriminating evidence can be seen here, here and here.)

Love the OSU jokes. I think Arkansas will be strong this year. They matchup very well in the SEC because they play well in the paint.
