I’ve said enough about Duke and opening ACC play today already, but it would be nice to get off to a good start. They are no doubt better than Virginia Tech, but as I’ve said, Tech has played them tough all but once thus far in ACC play. They need to play a solid 40 minutes today to win.

The NFL playoffs also start today. Next week I’ll start to care a little more. I know the Colts play this weekend, and as usual I’ll be looking forward to them losing at some point. Ideally, it would be today, but I suspect they’ll move on to next week. Too bad Steve Spurrier’s not coaching the Chiefs.

I’m reading Al Featherston’s Tobacco Road and there is a great quote from “Bones” McKinney, who coached Wake Forest in the 50’s and 60’s.

The trouble with officials is that they don’t care who wins.

Exactly.

In music, it appears Marilyn Manson’s marriage is over after a little more than a year. I can’t possibly imagine why it didn’t work out. The article says, “It was the first marriage for both. They have no children.” Thank God.

Finally, Switchfoot performed “Oh! Gravity” on Letterman this week.
