Arkansas’ basketball team had one game on their schedule this season to be played here in Little Rock. That game was this afternoon against Texas Tech. Bob Knight came to town and collected his 878th win of all time by beating the Hogs 71-56. He now needs two more wins to pass Dean Smith for the record.
After the game, when asked what the record means to him, Knight replied as expected:
“Doesn’t mean anything to me. It means I’ve coached a long time. You guys think too much about records.”
Texas Tech plays Bucknell next Saturday, and UNLV on the 28th. With both games at home, Knight should set the record before the new year. Arkansas’ next loss, I mean game, will be at Texas on Wednesday.
