This is supposed to be the soundtrack of my life. (H/t CY via GKB)
Thought it might be interesting to see what happened when I loaded up 1,095 albums and 880 singles, for a total of 14,814 tracks and randomly played them (or at least, 17 of them).
As CY describes, these are the rules:
If your life was a movie, what would the soundtrack be? Here’s how it works:
- Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, etc).
- Put it on shuffle.
- Press Play.
- For every question, type the song that’s playing.
- When you go to a new question, press the Next button.
- Don’t lie and try to pretend you’re cool.
- Don’t skip songs.
Well, this is what I got:
| 1. | Opening Credits | Ain’t No Grave (Russ Taff) |
| 2. | Waking Up | It’s Always Christmas At My House (The Huntingtons) |
| 3. | First Day At School | All The Young Dudes (Bruce Dickinson) |
| 4. | Fight Song | Stand Up (Petra) |
| 5. | Breaking Up | If You Ever Need Me (Gary Chapman) |
| 6. | Happiness | Sure Know Something (KISS) |
| 7. | Life’s Okay | Grind (Alice in Chains) |
| 8. | Mental Breakdown | Rock the Boat (Hues Corporation) |
| 9. | Driving | The Conjuring (Megadeth) |
| 10. | Flashback | Desparado (the Eagles) |
| 11. | Getting Back Together | Lines On My Face (Peter Frampton) |
| 12. | Wedding | Day by Day (Bride) |
| 13. | Birth of a Child | The Fire Breathes (Skillet) |
| 14. | Final Battle | Bad Place Alone (Alice Cooper) |
| 15. | Death Scene | Broken Wings (Alter Bridge) |
| 16. | Funeral Song | Oh My Soul (Poundhound) |
| 17. | End Credits | Draw the Line (Aerosmith) |
Not exactly what I would’ve chosen for a soundtrack. Maybe I got it backwards, considering #1 seems more appropriate at the end, although some (at least in title) seem to fit. Nevertheless, if this is my life’s soundtrack, I probably need to make some changes. And this movie would likely suck.

I may try this at some point. I hate I sold all my CD’s back a few years ago. It could have made for a more interesting spin.
I need to hear Bruce Dickinson doing “All the Young Dudes.”
