I read a quote recently about David Crowder saying that if you judge him by his appearance, you probably wouldn’t guess that he’s a worship leader. Mad scientist, maybe, but not worship leader. Granted, he’s a unique looking dude. But worship leader he is (at University Baptist in Waco) and David Crowder Band is creating some of the best worship music around these days.

I first began hearing their music several years ago. It was due in part to their yearly presence on the Passion worship discs. They’ve been putting out some good stuff since the late 90’s and, in recent years, folks like Crowder, Chris Tomlin and Charlie Hall have been regulars at the Passion conferences and therefore on the CD’s. It was also due in part to a dude named Marc Imboden, who brought his band to my church at the time in Huntsville, AL, for a worship concert. They were big fans of DCB and sang several of his songs that night.

I grew to like some of their early stuff, but it has been since the release A Collision that DCB has become one of my very favorite bands. All of their music is good, but if you don’t have any of it, get A Collision today. I considered just listing the tracks on A Collision below (it’s that good), but decided to include some from other CD’s as well, especially since my #1 favorite song is on a different disc.

As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve never seen them live, so I’m looking forward to the concert Thursday night. I suspect they’ll play too short of a set and I’ll wish they were the headline act. No, I don’t suspect. I’m certain that will happen. Nevertheless, I’ll enjoy what they have time to play. Now, as I posted for Third Day yesterday, here’s my favorite songs list.
